Youth Development
The SNZ Youth Development Programme provides swimmers 15-17 years of age opportunities to continue development of key characteristics required to compete successfully at the Youth International level including attitude, self-responsibility, and skills. The programme aims to develop awareness, capability, responsibility and pride in representing SNZ.
Through areas below, the SNZ Youth Development Programme will provide technical support, enhanced training opportunities, international competition opportunities, as well as sport science support to identified athletes/coaches who meet the selection criteria.
Program components include:
- Identification (Take Your Marks KIWI Rankings, Fina Points, World Rankings)
- Recognition
- Selection (Youth Development Camps, National Stroke Camps, International Competitions/Tours)
- Development (Camps, Testing, Skill Acquisition, Monitoring, Feedback)
- Tracking (Performance Analyst Reporting)
- International Competitions (Aussie Age, Trans Tasman, Queensland Duel, YOG, YCWG, AYOF, JPP)
- Exposure to World Class coaches and Sport Science (Camps)
- SNZ Youth Coach/Manager Visits to targeted programs
